Communicative language learning methods such as task-based language learning has " become an important concept in English language teaching pedagogy, especially English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This methodology supports ESP learners to achieve communicative competences required at the workplace. However, tasks need to be designed according to pedagogical criteria and in consideration of effective implementation. This paper shows that tasks which are designed and conducted online would provide more relevant and richer learning opportunities for business English learners, in company with traditional media, especially when on-line learning and teaching has become compulsory due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The task design is based on task-based interactions and in a sequence of tasks with the support of an online · learning management system. The findings suggest that on-line task-based learning enables meaningful and authentic activities promoting interactions and communicative competences to prepare for learners of business English to enter the workplace.en_US
