dc.description.abstractIn the last decades, TikTok has emerged as an extremely popular social platform providing short videos among people in Ho Chi Ming city, particularly youngsters. Although the problematic use of the platform and the way it leads to unproductivity is observable, the research on this emerging problem remains far from adequate. The study attempts to understand motives of short-video addiction, contributing some new findings on the root behind TikTok overuse and its impact on procrastination, addressing the current research gap in this rapidly evolving field. This study investigated the motivation under short videos addiction, in the case of TikTok, leading to procrastination. The survey was conducted among 342 people regardless of age, education level, and income in Ho Chi Minh city. The results demonstrate functional advantages are primary drivers to TikTok overuse. Moreover, there is a connection between this problematic use of the platform and procrastination.en_US
