Social pension allowance to ensure old-age security in Vietnam: Legal regulations and lessons from international practice

Abstract

Social pension allowances are a cornerstone of the social security system, playing a vital role in safeguarding the minimum standard of living for the elderly and enhancing their quality of life. In the face of challenges such as population aging and socio-economic fluctuations, Vietnam must urgently implement and refine its social pension policies. A robust pension system not only addresses the financial needs of the elderly but also fosters a fair and humane society. This article examines the current legal framework governing social pension allowances in Vietnam and compares it with advanced social pension models in the United States, Sweden and China. Based on these insights, the article proposes legal and policy solutions to enhance Vietnam's pension system, protect the rights of the elderly and support the sustainable development of the country's social security system
