Mental health has become a growing concern globally, especially among university students. Fostering mental wellbeing is also integral to achieving two of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in 2015: SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). If the challenges related to mental health among university students are addressed, a healthier academic environment and lifelong learning can be attained. This study, based on a survey of University of Economics’ students, employs quantitative analysis through SPSS to investigate the key factors influencing the symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders (DAS) among university students. Using the validated Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4) scale, we analyzed the correlation between influencing factors and DAS outcomes. With a sample of 262 students, the study examined the influence of multiple factors on the symptoms of depression and anxiety disorders among students of University of Economics HCMC. The findings highlighted that two key factors - Academic Pressure and Financial Concerns - emerged as statistically relevant predictors of DAS outcomes. The research aims to offer recommendations to alleviate depression and anxiety for students and the wider community. These suggestions can help educators, administrators, and policymakers at UEH University and other higher education institutions in designing appropriate intervention policies and support mechanisms. Ultimately, the understanding achieved from this study is hoped to promote healthier learning environments.en_US
