Abstract: | Though mobile banking is beneficial and widely adopted, there have been limited studies on security-related factors and the moderating effect of demographics on them. This study examines the effect of perceived security, perceived privacy concerns, perceived trust, performance expectancy, and effort expectancy on behavioral intention, and behavioral intention on use behavior for mobile banking in Vietnam, and age and gender’s role as moderators on those relationships. The research objective is to suggest managerial implications enhancing users' willingness toward employing mobile banking applications in Vietnam. The research tests a proposed model employing online surveys distributed to a convenient sampling (200 respondents). The results show that perceived security, privacy concerns, performance expectancy, and effort expectancy significantly affect behavioral intention and the same thing happens to the relationship between behavioral intention and use behavior. Perceived trust, specifically, has a dual function, directly affecting behavioral intention and moderating the association between perceived security, and perceived privacy concerns with behavioral intention, which are all found to be insignificant. Additionally, regarding age as a moderator, except for the relationship between perceived privacy concern, perceived trust, and performance expectancy with behavioral intention, the remaining are insignificant. Regarding gender as a moderator, except for the relationship between perceived privacy concerns, and performance expectancy with behavioral intention, the remaining are insignificant. This study can add to the theoretical underpinning of mobile banking applications with insights to help financial institutions, particularly banks, comprehend the drivers of intention to use mobile banking apps |
