Abstract: | The growing complexity of information in digital and physical spaces has significantly influenced workplace dynamics, particularly among Generation Z in Ho Chi Minh City. The research focuses on the impact of information overload on burnout and personal performance in this demographic, examining the relationship between cyber-based and place-based information sources and their implications for personal productivity. Despite being digital natives, Gen Z faces challenges in managing excessive information, leading to psychological strain and reduced efficiency. By integrating the Cyber-Based Information (CI) and Place-Based Information (PI) frameworks within the Cognitive Load Theory and CAT Theory, the study provides a structured analysis of these effects. A survey was conducted in January 2025, collecting data from 400 Gen Z respondents using SmartPLS for quantitative analysis. Key methodologies included measurement scales and structural modeling assessments. Results highlight that information overload is primarily driven by technology-related stressors, which directly exacerbate burnout and inversely affect personal performance. This study addresses the research gap by examining how Gen Z employees in Vietnam cope with information saturation.. Although geographically limited, this study highlights the importance of adaptive organizational strategies in reducing burnout and enhancing performance. Future research is encouraged to expand on these findings with larger datasets and diverse cultural contexts |
