Abstract

Factors Influencing the Decision to Choose the Accounting Major among UEH Students in Ho Chi Minh City in the Context of Digital Transformation. In the era of rapid digital transformation, the accounting major is undergoing significant technological advancements, which in turn influence students' decisions to pursue this discipline. Accounting remains a pivotal major within organizational structures (Nguyen Van Bao, 2020). These changes necessitate that accounting professionals possess not only solid technical expertise but also proficiency in technology to effectively apply in their practice, thereby ensuring the accurate and efficient completion of tasks and projects. In response to this, the research team conducted an empirical study focusing on the factors influencing the decision to choose the accounting major among UEH University students in Ho Chi Minh City. A survey with 353 respondents revealed six key factors: Personal Characteristics, Close Relationships, Career Potential, Digital Transformation Awareness, Professional Exposure, and Technology Application in Accounting. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for educational institutions in designing tailored training programs and offer guidance to students in aligning their academic choices with the evolving demands of the labor market in the digital age.
